UK manufacturing activity is expanding again: the S&P Global UK Manufacturing PMI was 51.9 for September 2026, above the 50 threshold that separates growth from contraction.
Growth is welcome, but it often pulls cash into stock and debtors. Rising sales can mask falling margins and lengthening payment cycles, leaving a growing business with less cash than before.
Owners and managers should track debtor days, inventory days and gross margin alongside revenue. Our illustrative Industrial Intelligence demonstration shows how these measures can move in different directions.
